Adam Kay

애덤 케이는 영국의 공공 의료 병원 NHS의 의사였다. 현재는 코미디언이자 작가로 활동하고 있다. 의사인 아버지의 영향을 받아 영국의 덜위치 칼리지Dulwich College에 입학한 뒤 임페리얼 칼리지Imperial College London에서 의학을 전공했다. 의과대학 재학 중 ‘아마추어 트랜스플란트Amateur Transplants’라는 뮤지컬 코미디 동아리를 만들어 활동하는 등 일찌감치 코미디언의 기질을 발휘했다. 작가가 되기 전 병원에서 의사로 일하며 쓴 ‘성찰 일지’가 그의 첫 책인 《조금 따끔할 겁니다This is Going to Hurt》다. 이 책은 출간 즉시 영국 베스트셀러가 되었고, 37개 언어로 번역돼 세계적 베스트셀러가 되었다. 또한 영국 BBC 방송국 코미디 드라마 제작이 확정되기도 했다. 현재 저자 애덤 케이가 진행하는 라이브 쇼는 연일 공연장 매진 기록을 세우고 있다.
