어릴 적 뒷산 너머 공항 활주로를 차고 오르는 비행기가 서녘 별 무리 속으로 사라지는 모습을 보며 늘 미지의 나라로 떠나고 싶었다. 그 바람을 쉰 살이 되어서야 실행했다. 마을버스 세계 여행 덕분에 인생 2회차에 불이 붙었다. 여행에서 얻은 에너지와 좋은 기운을 다른 이들과 나누는 게 새로운 꿈이다. 시속 60km로 정해진 길을 따라 평생을 달려야만 했던 마을버스가 한계를 뚫고 속도를 낸 것처럼, 인생 후반기에 다시 그리고 새로운 꿈을 꾼다.

2017년부터 해마다 강연, 방송에 출연했으며 KBS1 [아침마당] 등 여러 방송국의 아침 프로그램에 나가 대중과 가까워졌다. 2022년에는 인기 프로그램 [유 퀴즈 온 더 블럭]에 출연해 길에서도 알아보는 이가 많아졌다. [세바시] 강연은 물론 [TED] 강연에도 두 번 섰다.

the Korean Don Quixote Lim Taxi

I could see a small airport when I climbed the hill of my childhood hometown. Watching airplanes take off and land, I dreamed of being a world traveler. And that dream came true when I turned 50. In 2015, I took an old mini city bus and set off on a trip around the world. The bus had already had 300,000 miles in 10 years. When this bus, which was only six months away from being scrapped, set off on a trip around the world, people were excited as if it was their own business. The bus traveled around the world, starting in South America and passing through Central America and the United States. After traveling through 48 countries for 677 days, we returned to Korea.

Since 2017, I have given numerous lectures and talks, including [TED] and [SeBaSi]. I have become closer to the public through my appearance in different TV programs and lectures, especially through KBS1’s [AM Plaza]. In 2022, I appeared on a popular program, [You Quiz on the Block]. So now more people recognized me on the street. The key to my travel is freedom. I don't travel according to a preset plan. I travel as my imagination takes me. My travel group, 'Co-Geeks' (cooperative geeks), always welcomes other dreamers or Don Quixotes.
