영국의 피아니스트 찰스 할레(Charles Halle)가 1858년 맨체스터에서 창단한 오케스트라. 영국에서 가장 오래된 전문 오케스트라이다. 지금까지 한스 리히터(Hans Richter), 토마스 비첨(Thomas Beecham), 말콤 서전트(Malcolm Sargent), 존 바비롤리(John Barbirolli), 켄트 나가노(Kent Nagano)와 같은 지휘자들이 거쳐갔다.
