밴더빌트 대학교 신학대학원 교수이자, 역사신학과 구성신학의 주요 저작들을 발표한 조직신학자다. 헤겔 종교철학의 연도별 복원사업에 참여했고, 그것을 번역하여 소개한 헤겔 종교철학 권위자다.
