미 외교협회(Council on Foreign Relations) 한미정책 관련 프로그램에서 한국 연구를 책임지고 있는 책임연구원이다. “일본과 한국의 정체성 충돌: 동아시아 안보와 미국(The Japan-South Korea Identity Clash: East Asian Security and the United States)”(2015)란 책의 공저자이며, “중견 국가 한국: 글로벌 의제 기여(Middle-Power Korea: Contributions to the Global Agenda)”(2015)란 책의 편집장을 역임했다. 이전에 “아시아재단 국제관계 프로그램(International Relations Program of the Asia Foundation)”의 책임연구원으로 일했다. “미 평화연구소(U.S. Institute of Peace)”에서 전문가로 일했으며, “아시아 사회의 오늘날 문제(Asia Society’s Contemporary Affairs Program)”의 책임자로 일했다.
