고려대학교 정치외교학과를 졸업하고, 동교 정치외교학과 대학원에서 석사학위를 취득했으며, The Graduate Center, CUNY에서 정치학 박사과정을 수료했다. Hunter College와 College of Staten Island에서 정치학 강사를 역임했다. 주요 논문으로는 “The Unbearable Banality of Being Apolitical: Power and Politics in International Relations,” “미국 언론의 언어투쟁과 미국 (국제)정치현실의 사회언어적 구성” 등이 있고, 이언 샤피로의 논문, “사회과학과 금융위기: 사회과학의 최근 경향에 대한 몇 가지 반성”(The Social Sciences and the Financial Crisis: Reflections on Recent Trends)을 번역했다.
