조영모 교수는 한세대학교와 APTS(Asia Pacific Theological Seminary)를 거쳐 영국의 애버딘 대학교(Aberdeen University)에서 A. D. Clarke와 I. H. Marshall의 지도 아래, “Spirit and Kingdom in the Writings of Luke and Paul”라는 주제로 2003년에 신약학 박사 학위(Ph. D.)를 취득하였다. 현재, 건신대학원대학교에서 신약학 교수로 후학들을 가르치고 있으며 교학처장을 거쳐 박사원장직을 맡고 있다. 대표 저서로는 본서의 근간이 된, Spirit and Kingdom in the Writings of Luke and Paul: An Attempt to Reconcile These concepts (Milton Keynes: Paternoster, 2005)과 근간으로 사도행전 주석서인 Acts, New Covenant Commentary Series (Eugene: Wipt and Stock, 2018-2019)와 다수의 국내외 논문과 역서가 있다.
