그녀는 Theology and Spiritual Formation 교수로 1997년부터 Central Baptist Theological Seminary에서 재직중이다. 그녀의 사역 경험은 매우 다양하다. 청소년 사역자, 캠퍼스 사역자, 여러 지역의 교회에서 목회자로 섬겼으며, 특별히 영성 분야에 많은 관심을 가지고 있다. 특별히 베네딕트 영성을 통해 그녀의 삶에 끼진 영향에 대해 감사하면서, 영성 형성에 대한 연구를 계속 진행하고 있다.
그녀는 Oklahoma Baptist University를 졸업한 후, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary에서 M.Div.와 Ph.D. 를 취득했다. 그 후, Tantur Ecumenical Institute, Jerusalem, Israel; Cambridge University, Cambridge, England; and Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey 등에서 계속 연구 작업을 진행해 왔다. 저서로는 No Salvation Outside the Church?, What it Means to Be Human, and Joining the Dance: a Theology of the Spirit 등이 있으며, 최근에는 BELIEF 주석 시리즈 중 데살로니가전후서 주석을 작업 중이다.
그녀의 학문적 공로로 여러 상을 수상했다. Whitsitt Baptist Courage Award; The Betty Galloway Advocacy for Women in Ministry Award; Howard Moody Award, Coalition for Baptist Principles; Luther Wesley Smith Education Award; Frankie Huff Granger, Distinguished Mentor Award, Baptist Women in Ministry; Luke Mowbray Award for Ecumenical and Interfaith Leadership 등이다.
