스위스 제네바의 국제개발연구대학원 국제공법학 교수. 국제 앰네스티 유엔 대표로 활동했고 2006∼2014년에는 제네바 국제인도법·인권 아카데미 원장을 지냈다. 저서로 『브라이얼리 국제법(제7판)Brierly’s Law of Nations: An Introduction to the Role of International Law in International Relations, 7th edn』(OPU, 2012) 등이 있으며, 파올라 가에타(Paola Gaeta)와 함께 『옥스퍼드 핸드북: 무력 충돌시의 국제법The Oxford Handbook of International Law in Armed Conflict』(OPU, 2014)을 편집했다.
