한국학중앙연구원 책임연구원이다. 하와이대학교 철학과에서 『역경(易經)』과 시간을 주제로 박사학위를 받았다, 동양철학 텍스트의 번역, 19세기 동아시아 철학, 과정적 사유, 세계체제론 등에 관심을 두고 있다. 주요 논저에는 “Introduction to and Translation of Cho’e Han-ki’s Preface to the Study of Configurative Energy and Effecting Socio-Political Order among Humans(최한기의 『기학』, 『인정』 서문 번역)” (2019), “19세기 한국의 公개념 재구성” (2015), Confucianism in Context: Classic Philosophy and Contemporary Issues, East Asia and Beyond : with Leah Kalmanson (2010) 등이 있다.
