일본 츠쿠바대학교에서 지구환경과학전공으로 이학 박사학위를 취득했다. 전공 분야는 지역지리학으로 현재 부경대학교 글로벌지역학연구소 전임연구원로 재직하고 있다. 주요 연구로는 “Development of Direct Apple-Selling Facilities in Sannaemyeon, Miryang-si, Korea”, “Population Growth and Residential Distribution of Chinese Transmigrants in South Korea”, “동북아 관문도시의 공간적 특성: 요코하마를 중심으로” 등이 있으며, 역서로는 《환태평양 게이트웨이 지리학》, 《블루 어바니즘》 등이 있다.
