서울대학교 영어영문학과를 졸업하고 영국 노팅엄 대학에서 석사 학위를, 이스트 앵글리어 대학에서 박사 학위를 취득했다. 현재 한국외국어대학교 영어학부에서 강의 중이다. 주요 논문으로 「D. H. Lawrence Unbuttoned: Aaron’s Rod, Kangaroo, and the Influence of Lev Sehstov」, 「Writing the Body in D. H. Lawrence: Essays on Language, Representation, and Sexuality」 등이 있다.
