호주 뉴 사우스 웨일즈 대학교 수학과 통계학부 교수이고, 수학철학에서 ‘시드니학파’의 창시자다. 그의 저서로 『The Science of Conjecture: Evidence and Probability Before Pascal』(2015), 『Corrupting the Youth: A History of Philosophy in Australia』(2012), 『Proof in Mathematics: An Introduction』(2011), 『What Science Knows: And How It Knows It』(2009) 등이 있다.
