마르케트 대학교에서 박사학위를 받았고, 이후 무디바이블 신학교에서 13년 동안 성경을 가르쳤다. 현재는 미국 아칸소주에 있는 워시토 침례대학교에서 신학과 학과장 및 신약학 교수로 재직하면서 요한문헌, 바울신학, 사해사본 등을 연구하고 있다. 뛰어난 작가이자 편집자이기도 한 그의 저서로는 『요한계시록을 이해하는 4가지 견해』(공저, 아가페북스), Interpreting Revelation & Other Apocalyptic Literature(2016), 40 Questions About the Historical Jesus(2015), Romans: Teach the Text Commentary Series(2013), Apostle of the Last Days: The Life, Letters, and Theology of Paul(2013) 등이 있다.
