세인트앤드루스 대학교에서 철학박사 학위를 받았고, 현재 미국 남침례교신학교의 신약 해석학 교수로 재직하고 있다. Jesus the Great Philosopher, Reading the Gospels Wisely: A Narrative and Theological Introduction, The Sermon on the Mount and Human Flourishing: A Theological Commentary 등 다수의 책을 저술했다.
