셰필드대학교 정치학과의 정치학 이론 부교수다. 정치학 이론의 관점에서 동물권을 설명한 세 가지 핵심 저작으로 《동물과 정치학 이론 입문An Introduction to Animals and Political Theory》(Palgrave, 2010)과 《해방 없는 동물권Animal Rights Without Liberation》(Columbia University Press, 2012), 《지각 있는 자의 정치학Sentientist Politics》(Oxford University Press, 2018)이 있다. 셰필드 동물연구센터Sheffield Animal Studies Research Centre(ShARC)의 공동 센터장이며, 이전에 런던정경대학London School of Economics의 인권연구센터Centre for the Study of Human Rights에서 강의했다.
