레스터 대학의 초기근대사 교수이다. 영국과 미국의 다채로운 역사에 특히 관심이 있고 저서로는 Seeing Things Their Way: Intellectual History and the Return of Religion (2009), The Oxford History of Protestant Dissenting Traditions, Volume I: The Post-Reformation Era, 1559-1689 (2020), Reliquiae Baxterianae (2020) 등이 있다.
