영국 윈체스터 대학교 교육 및 교양학부 교수이다. 교육학의 맥락에서 사회적 포함과 배제, 섹슈얼리티, 자아와 정체성과 관련한 사회학적 쟁점에 관심을 가지고 연구를 진행하고 있다. 이 책 외에도 바우만을 다룬 저작으로 Zygmunt Bauman: Why Good People do Bad Things와 Zygmunt Bauman: Education in Liquid Modernity가 있으며, 그 밖의 저술로 A Beginner’s Guide to Social Theory, Talcott Parsons: Despair and Modernity, Leisure Studies: Themes and Perspectives, Understanding Social Divisions 등이 있다.
