미국의 저명한 소아청소년과 의학 박사이자 자녀교육 상담전문가. 매사추세츠주에 소재한 마운트홀리오크대학과 신시내티 의과대학을 졸업하고 소아청소년과 수련의 과정을 마친 미커 박사는 터프츠대학 베이스테이트메디컬센터에서 내과 수련의들을 교육했고, 현재 의학협회의 국가자문위원으로 활동 중이다. 30여 년간 유아 및 청소년, 부모들을 상담한 경험을 토대로 집필한 자녀교육서 시리즈 『엄마의 자존감』, 『강한 아빠 강한 딸』, 『아들 남자로 키우기』를 연이어 출간하여 언론의 극찬과 더불어 자녀교육으로 고민하는 부모들의 지지와 성원을 얻었다. 청소년 관련 주제의 강연으로 라디오와 텔레비전 프로그램에 자주 출연하고 있는 미커 박사는 현대의 청소년들이 신체적, 정서적으로 바르게 성숙하기를 염원하며 의학지 및 자녀교육 관련 잡지에 꾸준히 칼럼을 기고하고 있다. 현재 미시건주의 트래버스시티에서 동료 의사이자 남편인 월터 미커와 함께 네 자녀를 키우며 행복한 부모와 자녀 관계에 대한 연구를 지속하고 있다.
