지은이는 미국에 이민 가서 30년간 시카고에서 거주하면서 어린이 인성 및 자존감 향상 교육을 맡아왔다. 연세대학교 신문방송학과, 일리노이 주립대학 수학과, 일리노이 주립대학 행정대학원을 마치고, 현재 일리노이 주립대학에서 근무하고 있으며, 슬하에 여섯 자녀를 두었다. 한 자녀가 어바나 샴페인, 다섯 자녀가 노스웨스턴대학에 들어간 게 미국 교민 사회에 화제가 되어 노스웨스턴 대학 잡지와 시카고 신문 등에 가족 이야기가 소개되기도 했다.
The author has been working as a missionary in Chicago serving college students and delivering messages at the children’s worship service for the last 30 years. He completed his education in Journalism at Yonsei University in Korea, and Mathematics and an MBA at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Currently, he is working at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He and his wife, Curie, have six children. Five of them went to Northwestern University and one went to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The family was featured in Northwestern SESP(School of Education and Social Policy) annual magazine and Chicago local newspapers.
