'Thin-slicing' is a technique which is a process of reaching a decision or conclusion involving a split second or equivalently short information. 'Thin-slicing' thinking is exact opposite of our usual cognitive thinking process. I must admit Mr. Gladwell's writing is nothing but a top notch. He lays his thoughts clearly with intelligence. The whole reading experience was great. The writing style is as good as , if not better. Then comes the book's weakest link: his argument. It's hard to pin-point his argument, mainly due to the fact it's too thin (no pun intended). He basically mentions that snap judgment can be as powerful as cognitive process. Then he warns of its misuse. He concludes his argument with the fact that snap judgment can be trained just like its cognitive counter part. He gives a whole lot of examples and details in very crisp and eloquent matter. However, the feeling of the airy anything still leaves readers hard time creating a concrete conclusion - either via thin-slicing or not. Unfortunately, while not a classic like his previous work, Malcolm Gladwell's is an excellent read, thanks to its interesting subject is incredibly sweet writing. Recommend for a quick read. (Nothing to keep in your already loaded shelf.)
