Turtle that he want to fly in the sky is very poor. He didn't know his limlits. Sometimes we also forget our limits and try to do something over our capacity. This book reminds me of Socrates's saying, 'Know yourself'. We must remember this lesson. |

Hi~ I'm thirth four years old. I have three kids. A daughter and two sons. so I always busy and tired. I have no time every day.
But I saw ＜The Flying Turtle＞ with my daunghter. She like it very much.
I most spend time with easop's English books. Because It's funny and give me a valuable advice. A valuable advice is ＜Know your limits＞
Know your limits..... It's so difficult....

I don't think I had read this story during my childhood.
Anyway when you live a life, you have to take a big step sometimes or try more difficult jobs. When you get older, it is hard to challenge yourself, but if you are a young kid, it can be a good opportunity to do hardlooking work. The price may be extremely big like the turtle's case, death... however the reward can be huge.
So I think the lesson of this story is only for adults. They know their ability well, but children have unlitmited ability. And no body knows what their abilities are.
I even see some adults on a quiz show do greatly, stop at the final stage before he or she may get get a fortune and go home with less money. I don't think they look happy....and I would rather applaud a person who try but fail to be a winner.... |

| I am a 27 year old English tutor who is currently tutoring 9 year old and 12 year old students. I tried using this Flash clip for my tutoring sessions with them and what I felt about this Flash clip was that this version of Aesop's "The Flying Tortoise" could have been better if it stayed with the original version of the fable where two ducks carry the tortoise up into the sky. Also, the moral of the story is not very clear in this clip and furthermore, the pronunciation of the little kid who's acting as the Fish was not very accurate for young children. However, this clip is fun and it does invoke interest towards English. |
