좋은 책은 돌고 돌기에, 책이 출간되고 많은 시간이 흐른 지금에도 리뷰를 남깁니다. 한글로 번역된 책이 있지만 외서를 찾는 당신은 두 분류가 아닐까 합니니다. 첫 번째, 번역본이나 외서나 별 차이 없이 읽으시는 분입니다. 가격은 외서가 저렴합니다. 한손으로 들고 읽을 수 있다는 것과 작고 가벼워 코트 주머니에도 들어갑니다. 페이퍼북의 장점이기도 합니다. 여러모로 보관하고 집에서 읽기에는 번역본이 좋습니다. 우리나라가 책 이쁘게 잘 만들어 내죠 내용은 외서가 훨씬 와닫습니다. 모리 교수의 성격과 행동은 영어로 표현해야 더 어울립니다. 번역본엔 존칭을 포함한 교수님이란 단어가 끊임없이 나옵니다. 사실 그들은 서로의 이름을 부르고 스킨쉽을 통해 서로의 사랑을 공유합니다. 번역은 문제가 없으나 영어가 확실히 내용과 잘 어울립니다. 두 번째, 어떤 이유에서 영어로 된 이 책을 읽고 싶은 분입니다. 저자이자 모리의 제자로 책에 등장하는 '미치'는 스포츠 칼럼를 쓰던 사람입니다. 휘황찬란한 문법이나 표현보단 간결한 표현과 직설적인 문장 구조로 글을 썼습니다. 저도 영어를 못하지만 문맥적으로 힘들어서 읽지못한 부분은 많지 않습니다. 반면, 단어의 난이도는 있습니다. 당장 책을 펼쳤을때 제가 잘 이해가 안되는 단어를 몇개 적자면 다음과 같습니다. ritualistic opiate wither mimic exertion "Who moved my cheese?"를 전에 읽었던 경험과 비교면, 단어 난이도가 확 올라간 느낌입니다. 또한 무료 오디오북 구하기가 어렵네요, 잠깐 검색해 봤는데 너무 오래된 책이다 보니 torrent엔 없어 보입니다. pdf파일은 쉽게 구할수 있습니다. 저처럼 교제가 목적이시면 그걸 보셔도 나쁘지 않습니다. 메모하기도 훨씬 편하죠 |

사실 나는 먼저 한글로 된 책을 읽고 이 책을 접하게 되었다. 영어로 읽어도 그다지 어렵지 않다고 하길래... 그런데 역시 영어로 읽어도 한글로 읽었을 때의 감동을 역시 느낄 수 있었다. 한글로 번역된 것도 좋았지만, 영어로 읽어보니 그 단어 하나 하나의 느낌이 더 살아있다고 해야하나,ㅋㅋ 영어로 한번 읽어보는 것도 추천한다.!! |
