Any book by Audrey Wood and/or her husband is a winner but this one is my favorite. I hope it never goes out of print. Both the story and illustrations are engaging and imaginative. The interaction between the mother and her children illustrates well how easily the children can be caught in an inescapable trap and what lengths a desperate mother will go to free them.

작가만의 독특한 그림체가 있다. 두 번째 작품인데, 얼핏 보면 갸우뚱 하며 손이 가질 않는데, 한 장 한 장 넘기며 그림을 보면 빠져든다.(이럴 때 쓰는 표현인 듯...) 특히 인물의 표정을 잘 그려낸다.

사라진 아이들을 찾으로 가는 엄마의 모습이 나온다. 나에게 너무 소중한 아이지만, 매일 지치고 고단함만을 내세우는 나에게 이런 강인함이 있을까. 온전한 가족의 모습을 보는 나에게도 웃음이 지어진다.
