This book was just as exciting as the last book, and I will tell you one part I liked the most; it moved me very much! It's when Jayfeather brings his Clanmates to the mountainous Tribe of Rushing Water, and he finds himself back in the past when he and the two other cats in the prophecy were Jay's Wing, Dove's Wing and Lion's Roar. Though the others don't know it, Jayfeather knows this is the moment when the Tribe cats first came to the mountains, and that some of their descendants who decided to move out became the Clan cats' very ancestors. So to win the battle against the Dark Forest evil spirits, Jay's Wing must make sure the Tribe cats decide not to fall out of their new home, so that in the present, their spirits and descendants join forces with the Clan cats. And surprisingly, he, a snappy, cool medicine cat, actually falls in love with Half Moon, who slowly brings him prospects of a "full" life, where he will be able to see, where he will be able to love another cat, and even raise a family...... Yet his destiny, his prophecy weights down on his shoulders, so he cannot remain in the happy dreams of the past. So he announces to Half Moon that he has to go, and appoints her the first leader of the Tribe cats. Back in the present, Jayfeather watches as the spirits of the cats he came to love in the past comes over to him, promising to fight against the dark forces. However, whatever the main story was, I felt most deeply moved by a blind medicine cat's struggle between the sweet, compensating fantasies of past life and the cold, burdensome, abstinent and powerful self of the present. |
