교육적으로는 너무 훌륭하다

음..하지만  이 책을 읽을 때마다 맨 뒷장을 넘겨보면서 작가의 사진을 본다. 그리고 예쁜 모습으로 아기 호랑이를 안고 있는 작가를 보며 속으로 '아줌마.. 왜 이렇게 재미없어요 ㅠㅠ' 라고 생각하며 운다. Zack Files 라고 읽어보진 않았지만 꽤 인기있다고 알려진 작가가 남편이라고 씌어있다. 서로 책을 읽고 조언을 해주지 않는가 보다..

여하튼 교육적으로는 매우 훌륭하다고 할 수 있는 이야기이지만 억지스러운 부분을 신경쓰지 않는다 할지라도 재미가 없다. 이건 닉아놀드 책처럼 정보용으로 차라리 나가거나 아니면 재미있는 이야기 중심으로 나가거나 했어야 한다고 본다. 이것도 저것도 아니라 얼마나 읽기 힘든지.

그래도 7권째 꾸역꾸역 읽고 있기에 조금은 읽기 수월해 졌다. 특히 이번편은 다른 편들보다 그래도 괜찮았다.

8권까지 샀으니 망정이지 애들한테 돌맞을 뻔 했다. 나와 내 주변사람만 재미없게 느끼는 건가????

chap 1 trapped!

- The Water Bug whammed into the net, bounced off, and thumped into the ocean floor.

- A herd of tiny yellow box-shaped fish fluttered up to the windshield.

chap 2 um, mermaid?

- "manatee [mǽnətìː, mæ̀nəti ] 해우called sea cow. Eat lotsa grass. Look!" Thudd's face screen flashed a picture of an animal that looked like a lumpy beach toy.

- "A long time ago, sailors thought manatees were mermaids! Manatees are gentle and sweet!"

- "Manatee mammal, like dolphin," said Thudd. "Gotta breathe. Soon."

- It nodded its pudgy head, paddled its flippers, and circled up into the water.

- Judy scuffled quickly toward the Water Bug, kicking up silvery puffs of sand with every step.

- The edges were jagged and sharp. "Be super careful," she said, "but start chopping the net!" Judy and Andrew began hacking away. Soon they had cut a big hole.

- "Old bottle made by blowing hot glass. Glass blower stick hot glass lump at end of pipe, then blow glass like bubble gum."

- 'I'll get those lava boogers," he said.
