노란 바탕에 보랏빛을 머금은 기타 한. 그리고 기타를 꽉 채우고 있는 제목이라.... 일단, 표지가 꽤나 인상적이였다. 요 근래 읽고 있는 몇 권의 책들 사이에서 그 존재감을 뿜뿜!
이 책의 저자 '에이칸'의 이력 역시 독특하다.
책을 읽던 중, 유난히 눈에 남는 말이 있었다. 쉽게 뱉을 수도 있지만, 아들의 상황을 미루어 보면 절대 쉽지 않을 메세지다.
책 전체를 꽉 채우는 것은 글도 글이지만, 사진이 압도적이다. 이 독특한 시간을 살고 있는 '에이칸'은 지금 부산에서 기반을 두고 활동하고 있다고 한다. 관심 있으시다면... 고고! |

우여곡절 끝에 빚을 몽땅 정리하던 날, 에이칸은
에이칸과 빽껸은 길 위에서 만난 사람들과 친구가 되고, 국적과 인종을 초월해 누구와도 진정한 친구가 될 수 있었던 것은 어느새 한국에 돌아와 부산에 작은 작업실을 챙긴 에이칸. 아직 껍질을 깨지 못한 이들에게 시트콤 한 편 찍고 싶은 마음 불끈 솟게 만드는 책,

@"마음이 원하는 일을 하고, 마음이 원하는 사람을 만나는 것.. 그것이 인생이다." 서핑중에 어디선가 읽은 이 문구가 거듭된 실패를 꿋꿋히 딛고 낮선 땅 이국 속으로 두려움을 안고 다시 한발을 뗀 저자의 용기를 도드라지게해 본문을 읽는 내내 저물은 나의 청춘을 돌아보는 계기이면서 재미있기도 했고 또 일부 등장하는 전설같은 롹 곡들중에 개인적으로 좋아하는 가수와 곡명도 유튜브에서 찾아들으며 재확인할 수 있어서 가슴이 찡하기도 했다. 물론 처음듣는 곡도 있었지만 그중에 몇몇과 애니멀즈의 하우스오브라이징선과 특히 투팍은 개인적으로 열열한 펜이고 좋아해 운동할땐 오픈해서 크게 듣기도 하는 가수다. 살아있으면 좋았을것을~ 그러면서 다양한 국가와 다양한 친구들과의 인연을 뒤로하고 끝내 마지막 장을 펼치며 연락이 닫지않는 이들의 이름을 부르면서 여정을 마감하는 부분에서는 이름 모를 허함이 밀려왔다. 삶이란 만남과 헤어짐, 주어진 각자의 인생길에 남남으로 만나 서로를 이해하고 배려하며 공유하고 서로에게 배우기도하다가 시기가되면 각각의 인생길을 향하여 나아가는 여정! 그것이 인생길이라는 생각을 하면서 과연 삶이란 무엇이고 인생이란 무엇일까 돌아보는 계기도 됐다. 길다면 길고 짧다면 짧은 여러 과정들이 존재하는 인생이란 많은 점들의 연속이란 생각을 한다. 그것이 성공이든 실패든 또 만남이든 헤어짐이든 그 각각의 점들을 통해 우리가 성장하기도하고 성찰해봐야 할 지점들도 분명히 존재한다. 저자는 그런 점과 점들 속에서 한단계 도약하는 계기를 찾았고 낮선이들과의 교류를 통해서 인생을 더 풍성하게 한차원 성장하는 기회로 만들었다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 그런 유한한 시간위에 세월이라는 이름으로 펼쳐지는 삶의 대소 원칙들에 대하여 용기있게 갖어야 할 도전과 친구와 삶의 경외감에대하여 예의를 가지고 지켜나가는것도 느꼈다. 이번에 읽게된 "길 위에서 샤우팅! 노 뮤직 노 트레블"의 저자 경우처럼 우리들은 살다보면 그러한 크고작은 위기들을 자의든 타의든 한번쯤 마주할 수 있고 철저하게 밑바닦이라는 이름으로 곤궁하고 힘든 경험을 할수도 있으며 비단 그것은 누구에게나 해당될 수 있는 문제라는것도 알 수 있었다. 저자도 말했다시피 이런 과정을 통해서 경험이 쌓이고 더 단단해 지는 경우, 새로운 일을 하고자 함에있어 플러스 알파도 작용하기도 하지만 그렇치 않을 경우 혹 간은 위기의 시그널을 무시하고 안이하게 처신한 댓가로 영원히 재기하지 못하는 경우도 있는 것이 인생이라는 것을~ 그래서 하이 리스크, 하이 리턴을 중요하게 생각해야 하지만 분명 인생의 기본적인 룰을 지킬땐 철저하게 지켜야 저자의 경우처럼 일어설 가능성도 존재한다고하는 시사점도 봤다. 다행이도 저자가 언급한 인생의 중요한 핵심키워드를 아케이드 화이어의 웨이크 업 가사를 통해서도 확인할수 있었다.(유튜브에서 검색) Children, wake up, Hold your mistake up. before they turn the summer into dust. 차가운 길바닥 위에서 더없이 뜨거웠던 날들의 뭉클한 기록, 어쩌면 위대한 기록이 될지 모를 발칙한 로드 트립이 펼쳐진다! 우여곡절 끝에 빚을 정리하던 날, 에이칸은 '길 위에서 음악을 만들고 연주하며 여행하는 히피로 살아보겠다'고 선언한다. 낡은 고물차에 텐트, 침낭, 간단한 조리 기구 그리고 음악 장비들을 싣고 출발! 길은 나섰지만 계획은 없는 에이칸과 빽견, 그리고 음악과 여행을 좋아하는 친구들의 시트콤 같은 여정!
에이칸 전생에 사자였다고 믿는! 자연 다큐멘터리 감독을 꿈꾸며 한국 외대에서 아프리카어와 신문방송학을 복수 전공했다. 졸업 후 금융권에 입사했으나 2년 만에 사표를 냈다. 2개의 벤처 기업을 공동 창업, 회사를 급성장시켰으나 어쩌다 회사에서 쫓겨나 호주로 간다. 호주에서 빚을 모두 정리하고 길 위에서 만난 친구들과 함께 음악을 만들고 연주하며 ＜No Music No Travel＞ 프로젝트를 진행한다. 현재 한국에서 서브 컬처와 여행을 주제로 ‘나쁜여행(badtrip.kr)’ 채널을 운영하고 있다 https://www.instagram.com/badtripkr

길 위에서 샤우팅! 노 뮤직 노 트래블.. 제목부터 아주 강렬하다. 음악 없이는 여행도 없다! 길 위에서 소리 질러!! 대략 이런 제목인데, 글쓴이의 영혼을 한 마디로 표현한 말이란 생각이 들었다.
물론 감히 사람의 영혼을 한 마디 말로 표현할 수는 없지만 말이다.
어쨌든 이 책을 읽기 시작하면서 전에 봤던 다큐멘터리 영화가 한 편 생각이 났다. ＜잉여들의 히치하이킹＞이라고... 친구들 몇 명과 함께 모은 돈으로 맨 땅에 헤딩처럼 유럽 베낭 여행을 떠난 날들의 기록을 모아 세상의 빛을 본 영화이다.
친구들 중에 디자인 전공과 영상 제작 전공이 있어서 자체 수공업(?)이 가능했다. 되게 감명깊게 봤던 영화였는데 이 책을 읽으면서도 되게 감화 받았다.
뭔가 읽는 내내 가슴이 뛴다고 느꼈달까. 내가 이 글쓴이의 인생을 살아보진 못 했고, 그 현장에 있진 않았지만 생생히 전달이 되면서 덩달아 몰입이 되었다.
되게 드라마틱한 인생을 살았다. 나처럼 도전을 두려워하면서 안정만 취하려 하는 겁쟁이었다면 결코 살지 못했을 인생인데, 되게 겁없이 용감하게 많은 도전을 하였다. 은행원으로 안정된 직장에 취직하여 일을 하다가 친구랑 사업을 한다고 퇴사를 하고, 친구와 뜻이 안 맞아 또 자기 사업을 차리고 그런 과정을 거쳐 결국에는 자신이 설립한 벤처 기업에서 쫓겨나고 말았다. 다들 그렇겠지만 나이에 걸맞지 않은 빚만 안고 말이다.
솔직히 처음부터 자본 있어서 사업 시작하는 사람이 얼마나 되겠는가. 과정에서 빚도 많이 지고, 그런 건 당연하다 생각이 들었는데 만 30이 되기 전에 지기엔 꽤 많은 빚을 진 상태로 절망을 맛보았다고 한다.
그러다가 친구와 통화하던 중 극적으로 워킹 홀리데이.. 워킹 홀리데이 비자가 서른이 되면 발급이 안 된다고 한다. 생일을 얼마 남겨 두지 않고 급히 비자를 만들어 호주로 떠났다.
나라면 그렇게 용감히 결단내리고 떠날 수 있었을까. 하지만 한 편으로는 공감도 아주 잘 되었다. 부모님은 계속 안정된 길을 가라며 사업을 반대하셨는데, 결국 자기 고집으로 선택한 길 아닌가. 아무에게도 손 벌리지 않고 어떻게 재기할 수 있었겠는가.
바꿔 생각해 보면 나는 퍽 어린 나이임에도 체력도 달리고; 몸이 너무 골골거리면서 자주 아프다. 워킹 홀리데이를 아마 여자라면 더 제약이 많고 떠나기 어려웠을 것 같다. 한 때는 나도 떠나고 싶었는데, 아직도 고민 중이긴 하다.
어쨌든 그렇게 도망치듯 떠난 호주에서 새로운 다국적의 친구들을 만나고, 그 친구들과 우정을 쌓으며 인터뷰를 하기도 하였다. 책을 처음부터 쓰려는 마음이 있었던 건 아닌 거 같은데, 아마 사진과 함께 추억의 일부분을 더듬어 가며 책 속에 재구성 했을 것 같다.
신기한 것은 어느 곳이나 사람사는 것은 다 비슷하다. 그런 점들이 참 정겹고 따뜻하고, 인간의 선의를 믿고 싶게 하는 듯싶다.
아무튼 그렇게 1년 동안 죽어라 일해서 빚을 다 갚고 나니 운명처럼 음악이 다가왔다고 한다. 아니, 전부터 음악을 좋아했고 특히 록에 심취했었는데, 글쓴이에게 재능이 없다는 생각으로 멈추었었다고 한다. 그러다 모든 것들로 부터 자유로워 지고 자신만 오롯이 직시할 수 있게 되니 하고 싶은 일이 음악이었단다. 열정적으로 마음을 쏟아서 음악을 만들게 된다.
원래 떠돌이처럼 다니는 빽껸이라는 친구와 연락을 해서 40만 km를 탄 중고차를 끌고 여행을 하며 음악을 하며 살기로 했다.
이제는 하고 싶은 일만 하면서 살기로 마음 먹은 것이다. 사실 당연한 건데, 우리는 자주 남(!)을 위해서 노력하고 산다. 내 인생의 주인공은 다른 사람도 아닌 바로 나인데 말이다.
굉장히 작가로부터 배울 점이 많았다. 삶의 태도랄까.. 바닥을 쳐 보고 나니 자연히 성장하는 걸지 모르겠지만, 모두가 꼭 성장하는 것만은 아니다. 사람은 쉬이 변하지 않기 때문이다.
아무런 희망도 없이 너무 좌절스럽기만 하니 그냥 인생을 블랙 코미디라고 생각하기로 했단다. 본받아야될 점이었다.
다시 돌아가, 이 후에 떠난 로드 트립에서도 고민없이 결정한 대로 추진하는 그 용기! 용기를 나도 갖고 싶다. 나에게도 이런 특별한 경험을 해 볼 날이 올 것인가?
아니, 어쩌면 이미 그런 경험들을 수두룩하게 했을 지도 모른다. 그러나 그 경험들을 멋지게 이겨내지 못하고 성장하지 못 했기 때문에 아직 엮어낼 Story가 없는 게 아닐까? 사실 내게도 독특한 경험이라면 아주 많다.
도무지 살 수 없겠다 라고 생각할만큼 땅 바닥을 보았던 경험도 여러 번이었고, 그럼에도 살아있고 이렇게 숨 쉬고 있는 걸 보면 썩 괜찮은 녀석인가 싶기도 하고..
조금 더, 나도 조금만 더 용기 있게 목소리를 내고 행동하는 사람이 되고 싶다. 아직 계란 한 판을 채우지 못한 이도 저도 아닌 애매한 나이. 이 시점을 지나고 통과하고 나면 그런 사람이 될까..
나도 회복탄력성을 갖고 싶다. 이젠 그럴 때가 되었다.
아, 책 이야기에서 많이 비껴난 것 같은데 계속되는 여행과 거기서 얻은 사람들의 이야기이다. 사람이 곧 미래고 자산인 것 같다. 나도 좋은 사람들을 많이 만나고 싶다. 올해부터는 그래도 나이가 들어서인지 마음의 여유가 조금(사실 아주 조금) 생겼다. 하여 몇 달 뒤부터 여행을 지속적으로 할 생각이다. 굳이 해외로 안 나가도, 일단 아름다운 한국 팔도 강산을 누벼 보려 한다.
생각만 해도 가슴이 두근거린다. 심장이 뛰는 일을 꼭 해 보는 인생을 살자.

차가운 길바닥 위에서 가장 뜨거웠던 날들의 기록 No Music No Travel 3 YEARS, 10,000KM/ MUSIC & FRIENDS 길 위에서 샤우팅! 노 뮤직 노 트래블 에이칸 지음 북로그 컴퍼니 ★21세기에 히피 음악 여행 노 뮤직 노 트래블 열정을 느끼고 싶었어요. -어떤 일에 열렬한 애정을 가지고 열중하는 마음. 나를 들여다보지않고 정해진 틀에 나를 맞춰 살아가는 요즘 우리아이의 모습을 옆에서 지켜보다보니 저 또한 많은 생각을 하게되더라구요. 요즘 이래 저래 생각이 많습니다. 아이가 사춘기를 겪어내면서 심리적으로 많이 힘들어하고, 생각이 많은 아이라 진로와 인간관계,미래,현재,과거까지 모두 힘겹게 느껴지는지 하루하루를 고통스럽게 버텨내고 있어요. 매일매일 오늘도 버텨 냈구나...하며 하루를 마무리하는 저희 가족이예요. 끝이 보이지않는 사춘기와 자신에 대해 고민이 많은 아이의 모습을 보니 저 또한 힘겨워 한번씩 무너지네요. 결국 며칠동안 아파 앓아 누웠다가 이제 일어났어요^^; 정작 아파서 학교 가고싶지않다고 한건 그녀석인데 ㅎ 아쉽게도 내가 아파버렸네~라며 웃어 보입니다^^ 조언,충고는 들리지않고 듣고 싶지않은 사춘기와 중2 라는 시기를 버텨내고 있는 아이에게 위로는 조금의 힘이 되는듯해 안심이 되다가도 위로를 통해 아이가 더 없이 나약해지는듯해 요즘은 위로조차 아낍니다. 사춘기 ... 정말 어렵다ㅠㅠ 사춘기는 정말 혼자도 어려운데 주위 환경까지 더해져서 자극이 되어 더 힘든거같아요. 무관심하다못해 귀찮게 한다며 짜증내는 담임선생님. 나쁜 버릇을 가진 친구의 접근. 성적은 자꾸 떨어짐. 의욕상실. 자존감 바닥! .... 한번이라도 제대로 무언가에 빠져들어 열심히 하는 모습을 보고싶어요. 그래서 이책에 더 끌렸는지도 모르겠네요. 밑바닥까지 떨어진 상황에서 미련없이 떠나 빚을 갚기위해 시작한 워킹홀리데이를 통해 만나게된 사람들. 그 사람들을 통해 히피의 삶을 살겠노라고 로드 트립을 시작하여 좋아하는 일을 하며 살아가보는 그들의 모습을 보며 내 아이도 덜 벌고 힘들더라도 좋아하는 일을 했으면 하는 바램입니다. 히피문화에 대해 많이 알게된 책이였어요. 많이 변하고 여전히 변하고 있는 히피 문화에대해 재밌게 읽어서 기분 좋은 책이였답니다. 이 책에서 가장 많이 나오는 뮤지션은 역시나 밥 말리 였던거같아요. 덕분에 저도 꾀나 많이 찾아 들어 보았네요. 물론 비틀즈 노래두요 ㅎ 비긴 어게인 이라는 프로를 통해 버스킹에 대해 조금 알게되었는데 「길위에서 샤우팅!노 뮤직 노 트래블」 속 버스킹을 읽다보면 저도 작가님과 빽껸님의 음악을 들어 보고싶다는 생각뿐이였네요 ㅎ 책 속 사진들이 너무 예뻐서 놀랬어요 ㅋ 로드트립이란게 어찌보면 길바닥 위에서 개고생인데 늘 행복한 미소가득 사진들과 글빨 덕분에 저는 위로가 되었네요 ㅎ 에이칸님이 만나온 세계각국의 친구들의 인터뷰가 가장 인상적이였어요. 그들이 겪어온 삶과 앞으로 나아가고픈 삶에 대한 생각들을 이야기해주는 인터뷰가 감동적이면서 확고한 그들의 철학이랄까...모두 행복했으면 좋겠다는 생각만 드네요 ㅎ 열정가득 의욕충만 음악여행에세이 「길위에서 샤우팅!노 뮤직 노 트래블」 읽어보시길 추천해요^^! #나쁜여행 http://music.naver.com/musicianLeague/contents/index.nhn?contentId=9572 길위에서 샤우팅!노뮤직노트래블 를 읽으면서 지금의 나를 들여다 봅니다. 읽고 보다보면 힘이 나는 여행에세이 길위에서 샤우팅!노 뮤직 노 트래블! *마지막에 길위에서 만난 친구들의 소식도 쏠쏠하게 전해주고있어요. 역시 뒷풀이는 재밌어요^^

북로그컴퍼니라는 출판사 좀 낯설다~ 길위에서샤우팅!노뮤직노트래블 흠흠 여행에세이 같은데 제목 참 맘에 든다. 출판사는 낯설었지만 책제목부터 뭔가 강렬한 끌림이 왔다. 지여인-지방대 여자 인문학전공자-으로 서울에 시나리오 드라마 작가 되고 싶어서 올라와서 글은 안쓰고 술퍼고 놀고 고시원 옥탑방 자취방을 전전하다가 결혼과 함께 아파트에 살게 된 그냥 지금은 평범한 40대주부가 나다. 11살8살 말 안듣는 아들 그보다 더 말썽인 남의편을 달고 살고 있다. 아들들과는 대화를 시도하는데 남의푠과는 당췌 대화가 거의 없다. 뭔가 지적인 대화를 나누고픈 평생친구 동반자는 일에 치여 살고 그래서 더욱 책을 읽는다. 책을 읽는 순간부터는 글쓴이의 삶을 들여다보고 또 그와 대화를 나누고 있다고 난 믿는다. 음악없음여행읍따아~하는 요론 말 참 좋아한다. 아무래도 내가 경상도쪽 출신이라 기면 기고 아이면 아이고~를 학실히 하는 스퇄이라서 긍가보다.ㅋ 출판사와 책제목에 대한 내 첫인상을 얘기하는데 참 주절주절 길기도 길다.
그냥 내 적성에 맞지 않아도 내가 하고픈 일이 아니었더래도 금융권 직장을 박차고 나왔다는 에이칸님의 그 용기가 대단했다. 뭐 벤처기업하다가 연대보증 잘 못 서서 빚만 잔뜩 지고 워킹홀리데이 비자로 호주에 와서 5번냉동창고에서 일하러 떠날줄은 정말 몰랐을 거다. 에이칸은 낯선 환경에서 음악과 소통하고 음악으로 친구들을 만나고 그들과 솔직한 이야기를 주고 받고 글을 썼다. 그래서 그의 여행사진과 그의 친구들은 다 진심으로 다가온다. 1년 넘게 노동으로 빚을 거의 다 갚고 153번지 셰어하우스에서 파티를 정말 뻑적지근하게 벌였는데 그 날 이후로 그들은 퇴거명령을 받는다. 에이칸은 친구 빽껸과 호주를 횡단하며 캠핑장에서 카우치서핑을 통해서 다양한 연령대의 사람들은 만나고 또 그들과 음악으로 소통한다.
