He was a six-year-old who dazzled the Empress of Austria with his piano brilliance.

For seven weeks, Wolfie could not practice his music because the noise might disturb Papa. Papa Leopold fell sick and needed rest. Nine-year-old Wolfie wanted something to do, so he composed a symphony-his first. It is called the Symphony in E-flat and is still performed today.

He was a serious musician who loved to tell silly jokes. 

He was the greatest composer who wrote more than 600 concertos, sonatas, symphonies, and operas in his thirty-five-year lifetime.

Yet despite all the troubles in his life, Mozart never stopped writing his exceptional music. He composed his last three symphonies in about three months. Unfortunately, he never had the chance to hear them played. It is amazing to think that he could hear all the different parts -strings, woodwinds, brass- in his head. He was so accurate that the music is performed today exactly as it was written. There were no corrections at all, because Mozart did not need to make them.
