부처님의 가르침 중 핵심 사상인 사성제와 연기, 무아에 대한 개념 설명을 한 책이다.

대학정도의 교육을 받은 서양인을 대상으로 한 책이기에 쉬운 책은 아니다.

어려운 단어들이 많이 들어 있지만 문장 하나하나가  주옥 같다.

지금까지 읽은 사성제에 대한 책 중에서 가장 좋은 것 같다.
