Point Loma Nazarene College(B.A.)와 Princeton Theological Seminary(M.Div., Ph.D)를 졸업하였으며, 철학 박사학위를 취득하였다. 현재 Emory University의 Candler School of Theology에서 구약학 교수로 재직 중이다.
저서로는 The Old Testament is Dying: A Diagnosis and Recommended Treatment (Baker Academic, 2017)가 있으며 Jerusalem and the One God: A Religious History (Fortress, 2017)를 편집했다.
