부산대학교 공과대학 도시공학과 교수다. 성균관대학교 행정학과를 졸업하고 연세대학교 도시공학과에서 도시 및 지역계획 전공으로 박사학위를 받았다. 연구 분야는 지역개발, 도시 회복력, 도시 데이터 분석 및 미래 예측, 협력적 도시계획, 사회적 혁신과 제3섹터 등이다. 저서로는 『사회적 기업과 지속가능한 지역발전』(공저, 2012) 등이 있다. 논문으로는 “Exploratory study on the spatial relationship between emerging infectious diseases and urban characteristics: Case from Korea” (2021), “Measuring changes in urban functional capacity for climate resilience: Perspectives from Korea”(2018), “Integrating climate change adaptation into community planning using a participatory process: The case of Saebat Maeul community in Busan, Korea”(2016) 등이 있다.
