한국외국어 대학교를 졸업하고 프랑스 파리 고등사회과학대학원(EHESS)에서 사회학 석사, 박사 학위를 받았다. 현재 프랑스국립동양학대학교(INALCO) 한국학과 소속 부교수이며 프랑스동아시아연구소(IFRAE) 소속 연구원으로 부소장직을 맡고 있다. 동시에 프랑스이민융합연구소(Institut Convergences Migrations) 소속 연구원으로도 활동 중이다. 주요 연구분야는 이민, 종교, 통합, 한국사회, 다문화, 이민정책이다. 공동저서로 『아시아의 이주민, 순환과 이주의 길(Migrant(e)s d’Asie, migrant(e)s en Asie. Circulations et trajectoires migratoires plurielles)』 (Isabelle Konuma & Pauline Cherrier (dir.), 2024)이 있으며, 주요 논문으로는 “La politique d’immigration en Coree du Sud a l’epreuve de la ≪ coreanite” (2024), “The Multiple Role of Korean Missionaries in the Making of Transnational Belonging” (2022), “Communalisation religieuse et pluralite nationale : l’accueil des migrants par les Eglises protestantes en Coree du Sud” (2022) 등이 있다.
