미국 캘리포니아대학교 버클리캠퍼스 농생태학 명예교수로, 라틴아메리카 농생태학회를 창립했다. 저서로 Agroecology: The Science of the Sustainable Agriculture(Westview Press, 1995), Genetic Engineering in Agriculture: The Myths, Environmental Risk, and Alternatives(Food First Books, 2004)가 있으며, 공저로 Biodiversity and Pest Management in Agrosystems(CRC Press, 2004), Forgotten Agricultural Heritage―Reconnecting Food Systems and Sustainable Development(Routledge, 2017) 등이 있다.
