Born in 1944 in the city of Leninogorsk (Kazakhstan). After graduating from the Mining and Metallurgical college in 1962, he worked in the mines of Kazakhstan as an assistant excavator driver, shift supervisor (at the age of 17) and then as a design engineer.
In 1968, he was accepted into the second year of the Leningrad and Moscow Mining Institutes. He chose the Metropolitan University and graduated in 1972. In 1991, he studied at the University of Illinois (USA).
He worked as a researcher, head of the sector at the Research Institute, director of the federal state scientific institution. He headed several non-governmental scientific and production organizations.
Doctor of Technical Sciences (specialty "Underground mining of mineral deposits"), Professor (Department of Pedagogy), Senior Researcher (specialty "Management in social and Economic Systems"). He has more than 40 years of teaching experience, has published 194 scientific papers, including 19 books, and has received 72 patents for inventions and utility models in seven sectors of the economy.
Honored Inventor of the Russian Federation, Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation, laureate of the Government of the Russian Federation (in the field of education), the Academician I.M. Gubkin Prize, the Henri Coanda International Gold Medal.
