고려대학교 한국사학과에서 박사학위를 취득했으며, 중국 중산대학(Sun Yat-sen University) 동아시아연구센터&한국어학과 부교수를 역임했다. 주요 논문으로 「“Medicine of the Grassroots”: Korean Herbal Medicine Industry and Consumption during the Japanese Colonial Period」(2020), 「의학, 상업 및 성(性): 일제시기 보약소비와 한약의 표상화」(2023) 등이 있다.
