University of Kentucky의 T. Marshall Hahn 석좌 심리학 교수이다. 성격 및 성격장애 분야에서 500편 이상의 논문과 책의 장(章)을 발표하며 폭넓은 연구 업적을 쌓아 왔다. 현재 『Annual Review of Clinical Psychology』의 공동 편집자이자, 『Personality Disorders: Theory, Research, and Treatment』의 편집장으로 활동하고 있다. 그는 2010년 Society for the Science of Clinical Psychology로부터 ‘Distinguished Scientist Award’를, 2013년 Society for Research in Psychopathology로부터 ‘Joseph Zubin Award’를, 같은 해 North American Society for the Study of Personality Disorders로부터 ‘Senior Investigator Award’를 수상한 바 있다.
