Frogs can live almost anywhere. They like to live in wet areas. You can find them in ponds and lakes. Not all frogs like wet places. Some live in the desert. Many frogs also spend most of their time in trees.
Frogs need to eat, too! They eat mostly insects like flies and grasshoppers. Other frogs like to eat worms or mice. How do frogs catch fast insects? They have a long, sticky tongue. Their tongue shoots out quickly and grabs the bug. Frogs are not just green. Some are black and yellow. Some are blue. There are even red frogs with spots. Around the world, frogs come in all sizes, too. Gray tree frogs are very tiny. The Goliath frog can be as big as a cat! First, a frog lays a bunch of eggs. The eggs hatch into little tadpoles. They have tails, not legs, and they only live in water. Tadpoles grow legs as they get bigger. They also grow lungs so they can live on land. After a few months, they don’t even have a tail. Some frogs are very dangerous - their skin is poisonous! Dangerous frogs are usually the prettiest. They are very colorful. Toads look like frogs, but are they the same? They are! Toads are frogs that mostly stay on dry land. They don’t need water like most frogs do. To some people, frogs are scary or gross. But frogs are very important. They can also be very cute!? --- Unit01, 「All About Frogs」 중에서 |
