엘리너 게이츠(Eleanor Gates, 1874년 9월 26일 ~ 1951년 3월 7일)는 미국의 극작가로, 브로드웨이에서 7편의 연극을 무대에 올렸습니다. 미네소타주 셔코피에서 태어났으며, 첫 소설 《The Biography of a Prairie Girl》(1902)은 자신의 어린 시절 경험을 바탕으로 썼습니다.
처음에는 샌프란시스코에서 신문 기자로 일하면서 소설도 집필했습니다. 가장 유명한 작품은 연극 《The Poor Little Rich Girl》(1913)로, 남편이 제작했으며 이후 1917년 메리 픽포드 주연, 1936년 셜리 템플 주연의 영화로 만들어졌습니다.
1915년에는 여성이 소유·운영하는 영화사 Liberty Feature Film Company를 설립하기도 했습니다.
Eleanor Gates (September 26, 1874 ? March 7, 1951) was an American playwright who created seven plays staged on Broadway. Born in Shakopee, Minnesota, she based her first novel, The Biography of a Prairie Girl (1902), on her childhood experiences.
She initially worked as a newspaper writer in San Francisco while also writing novels. Barnes & Noble Her best-known work was the play The Poor Little Rich Girl (1913), produced by her husband, which was later adapted into films starring Mary Pickford in 1917 and Shirley Temple in 1936.
In 1915, she founded the Liberty Feature Film Company, which was reportedly the only film company owned and managed by women at the time.
