Storing in inventory} “Use 1 {Fire Resistance Potion (Normal)}” Blip! {Using 1 out of 20 {Fire Resistance Potions (Normal)} Effects will last for 20 minutes} Great. Preparations are now complete. I started to run towards the Tower. “Activate {3rd Eye-Lv. 1} Activate {Sword Dance-Lv. 7}\" I took out—A red skeleton came at me. I swung {Poison Dagger (Epic)} at it. It crumbled into dust. Blip! {Kills: 1} Blip! {You have received 10 Astral Coins} I continued to run towards the Tower. Blip! {Behind head} I turned and shot a wyvern out of the air. Blip! {Kills: 2} Blip! --- p.50 His eyes widened “How can you speak Gothic as well?” I smiled slyly “I have my ways, don’t I? Now properly, again, unless you want me to make you swear it upon the River Styx and invoke The God of Heavenly Lightning’s wrath.” He repeated the apology again, but the glint in his eyes made me think that this would come back to bite my ass later. “This Quest puts up in a room filled with Aether and nothing else. I simply called it a room for the lack of a better word to describe it. The Aether will expand and contract in a pattern. When it contracts, it will shrink the space so that we exist and nothing else. No air, no nothing. Then, the Aether will expand again, but this time, it will bring monsters and such for us to fight. After that, following the designated pattern, the Aether will shrink and expand over and over. Most people simply fight their way out of this. They fight a grand total of 100 monsters, taking on average 2~3 days to do so. The system gives us 3 days to get out. If we cannot, we die. If we can, no Quests for 2 days. The Hack is simple: Figure out the pattern, and simply invoke it.” I said, keeping my end of the promise. “Hmm..” Ascher says sarcastically “Definitely simple. You know, when you guys filled me in earlier, you didn’t make it seem this --- p.100 why not me? I glanced back at the Lord who had returned to stuffing himself, completely unbothered. That’s when it hit me. I had the skill {Mental Barrier-Lv. 7} , which was stopping the Lord’s skill from taking effect on me. I thought to Calix through our Companion bond. ‘Wake up. Calix. Calix. Wake the fuck up.” I could hear his thoughts clearly. He had let go of the barrier between us. Part of him was begging to listen to me while the other was chanting over and over to listen to the Lord’s voice. “Wake up. You need to kill that thing so that we can get a move on with these Quests so that you can finally become the new Holy Knight, so that you can finally get your happy en-” Woah… Emotional overload. Okay. Chill. It’s fine. You got this. I ignored Calix for now and turned to Ascher, still keeping a tight grip on both of them. “Ascher.” I said gently. “Hey. Wake up. Wake up. Don’t listen to him. He’s the Lord, remember? We need to kill him. Ascher? Remember what we came here for?” I shook him gently but he didn’t move, only stood, blinking with those glazed over eyes of his. That’s when I felt someone staring at me and the prickling sensation told me that there was murderous intent behind the look. I turned, still keeping hold of Calix and Ascher and found the Lord staring at me. He looked at me, then at Ascher, then Calix. “New plan,” he said calmly. “Kill the girl, then get me more stuff.” He was quiet for a second. “Oh, and then you can just stab yourself in some corner and die. But do it away from me so you don’t dirty my stuff.” --- p.150 |
