Author: Hanmiyobaessitoga - Pure Cera (Yonshik Bae, Eunkyeong Bae, Saerom Bae)
Biography:
Hanmiyobaessitoga (Pure Cera) is the only ceramic lineage in Korea that has preserved and inherited the tradition of Puredogi, a royal Korean cultural heritage, across nine generations for 286 years since 1740.
Recognized as the sole lineage holding this legacy, the family was officially designated as Seoul Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 30 (Onggijang - Earthenware Making) and Nationally Certified Master Artisans, formally acknowledging the historical and technological value of their craft.
Their creation process relies exclusively on natural clay collected directly from energy-rich soils across the nation. For each 28-day firing cycle, the family burns premium Geumgang Pine Wood from high-altitude regions of Gangwon-do in hand-built wood-fired kilns. Reaching temperatures exceeding 1,300°C, salt is sprinkled to finish the surface, while dense, high-purity carbon smoke bonds into microscopic pores. This nano-carbon technology demonstrates both the artistic grandeur and scientific excellence of traditional Korean royal vessels.
Today, the Bae family continues to transmit, develop, and master the once-lost art of Puredogi. Moving beyond historical reproduction, their creations are globally acclaimed as fine ceramic artworks of outstanding quality and cultural depth.
