책소개

Angel Vice was the Commander of the 8th Battalion for the Space Centurion's Galactic Fleet, and the Captain of its flagship the Diamond Flux, until that ship was presumed destroyed, and she was abandoned by the Galactic Fleet for 11 years. Her former first officer randomly communicates with her out of the blue to track down who or what destroyed their ship. Saru Han is a space pirate who took out the last captain of the 8th Battalion and decides to celebrate the death of that captain, and the new lead to a massive treasure, with a party with his crew. He wakes after the party to find his whole crew dead. Vice's motivation is to track down information, find out what happened to her ship and why. Han needs to know what happened to his crew, as well as track down the legendary treasure, the Lion's Gold. Angel Vice stumbles upon Saru Han and follows him during his treacherous deeds. Saru Han quickly flees a populated cityscape, away from the Fleet to his ship, the Hellfire. Vice follows him to a distant planet that was considered mythical, erased from all galactic star charts. On the distant planet, the two stumble upon each other, and stick together to survive. They become lovers, seeing their flaws and strengths in full force; Saru enjoying and appreciating Vice's honor and dedication to the people she cares about, despite the universe throwing her down a dark hole with no hope; Vice enjoys Saru's ruthlessness and integrity, but also his sense of wonder and belief in the impossible odds. They escape on a massive, derelict ex-Fleet cargo vessel, in an effort to gain trust back in the Galactic Fleet, with the Hellfire on automatic protocol to follow them off-world.The first officer, Pulna Fierce, that brought Angel Vice back into the fold of the mayhem at the beginning, is the antagonist. Fierce orchestrates the tension between Saru Han, Angel Vice, and the Galactic Fleet. A showdown occurs between Han, Vice, and Fierce, and Fierce loses the battle. In her dying breath, she reveals she was Nexus IV, a genetically altered superior being. Her death triggers an opening of a chamber in the Diamond Flux, and reveals her "brother," Nexus V. He escapes out of the viewing window of the ship, along with all of the oxygen. As Vice enables emergency lockdown protocol, the window is closed by giant steel panels, and Vice passes out. Han goes to her aid, and realizes the body of Pulna Fierce, Nexus IV, is the last thing he saw flying out of the viewing window, and wonders what they just unleashed unto the galaxy.
