- 이 책은 성균관대학교 인문사회캠퍼스 신입생을 주요 대상으로 한 영어쓰기 기초 교재이다. 기본적으로 강의용으로 구성했지만, 독학을 하는 학습자에게도 충분히 체계적 학습이 가능하도록 구성했다.
- 이 책은 인문학, 사회과학 및 경영학 등의 전공 분야 영어 글쓰기에 대한 기초를 제시하고 있다. 미리 쓰기(pre-writing)로 시작하여 문장, 단락, 에세이와 보고서 쓰기까지 체계적으로 작문 능력을 키울 수 있도록 구성했다.
- 이 책은 정의, 분류, 원인과 결과, 설득하기 등 여러 가시 다양한 글쓰기 양식을 다룬다. 또 세 번째 섹션(Building Blocks)에서는 일반적인 영어 교재에서 거의 다루지 않는 훌륭한 요점과 작문 기술을 소개한다.
