분량이 많지가 않아 200일 잡고 1일 1챕터씩 매일매일 꾸준히만 해도 성공일 것이라는 생각으로 시도를 했으나, 역시 매일매일 꾸준히 하기만큼 힘든 것이 없다.
어제 못한 걸 오늘 할 때도 있지만, 이렇게 해서 한 권이라도 끝내는게 어디인가 싶다.
마음에 와닿는 문장이 간혹가다 있는데 영어공부하는 것 외;

어찌어찌 검색하게 되었고 책 소개글과 유투브 소개 영상을 보고는
쉽게 선택하게 되었습니다.

아마도 영어 명언이 너무도 많이 수록되어 있을 것 같아서
좀더 초보자가 들어서기 쉬울만한 영어 명언집을 찾기 시작했습니다.
그러다 [영어 독립 인생 명언 200]이란 이 책을
어찌어찌 검색하게 되었고 책 소개글과 유투브 소개 영상을 보고는
쉽게 선택하게 되었습니다.
책 소개글이나 유투브 영상을 통해 기대하게 된 것과
실제 체감의 차이는 아주 약간 있지만 그렇다고
만족도 면에서 많이 실망할 책은 아닙니다.
다른 영어 명언 책과 가장 다른 점이라면 전체 명언 문장을 모두
음성으로 들어볼 수 있다는 게 가장 탁월한 것 같습니다.
그 외에도 책 소개와 모두 같지만
다만 기대와 체감이 다르다고 느낀 건
문장 속 핵심 문법에 대한 설명이
책 소개에서도 간략히 있다고 소개되지만
그럼에도 불구하고 책의 판형과 페이지를 고려할 때
문법에도 상당히 배려한 책이리라 기대하게 된다는 것입니다.
판형과 페이지는 가독성은 높인다고 할 수 있겠지만
문법 해설을 매우 기대한다면 꽤 실망하실 것 같습니다.
그럼에도 영어 명언들이 상당히 실용적이라고 느낀 건
본서를 한 번 읽은 후 우연히
'가방 끈 짧은 아빠의 고교 졸업식 연설'과 비슷한 제목에
미국인 아빠의 미국 고교 졸업식 연설 영상을 보게 되었는데
이 책에 수록된 영어 명언들이
언급되고 있어서 상당히 반가웠습니다.
명언이라는 게 공적인 자리에서 언급되기 쉬운 것이기는 하지만
읽고 바로 원어민의 연설에서 볼 수 있어
본서에 대한 호감이랄까가 더 커졌습니다.
많은 분들의 연령이나
영어에 익숙하신 정도가 다 다를 것 같아
쉽게 모두에게 권할 수는 없는 문제겠지만
저처럼 영어가 익숙하지 않거나
영어와 담쌓은지 오래인 분들께는
영어 명언 외우기로 접근하는 것이
독해실력 향상과 학습 흥미 유지에
탁월하지 않을까 싶기도 합니다.
