목사이자 박사(PhD, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School)인 그는 웨스트민스터신학교(Westminster Theological Seminary) 글로벌 사역 부총장(Vice President of Global Ministries)으로 취임할 예정이다. 또한 한국어 프로그램 총괄 디렉터이자 글로벌 사역부 석좌교수로 재직 중이다. 최근 3년 동안 The Gospel Coalition의 대표로 섬겼으며, 그 이전에는 20년 동안 웨스트민스터신학교(WTS) 캘리포니아 캠퍼스에서 학생처장(dean of students) 및 실천신학 교수로 재직했다. 그는 현재 캘리포니아 에스콘디도에 위치한 New Life Presbyterian Church의 associate pastor로 섬기고 있다. 수상 경력이 있는 『설교학』(Preaching the Whole Counsel of God: Design and Deliver Gospel-Centered Sermons)을 집필했다. 또한 Covenant College와 Peacemaker Ministries를 포함해 여러 사역 기관의 이사회에서 활동하고 있다. 최근에는 온누리교회와 로잔운동(the Lausanne Movement)과 같은 국제적인 단체들의 자문위원으로도 활동하고 있다.
