작가는 요즘같이 좋은 소식이 없는 세상에 희망을 던져주는 책을 쓰고자 했다. 결국에는 ‘사랑’ 만이 우리 모두의 희망이 될 수 있겠다는 결론에 도달했다. 그리고 아홉 편의 사랑 이야기를 모은 책 제목을 《아홉 빛깔 사랑》이라 명명했다.
이 책에 실린 소설들은 우리가 흔히 ‘사랑’이라고 하면 떠올리는 통속적인 남녀 간의 사랑 이야기만 있는 것이 아니라 가족 간의 사랑, 친구들 간의 우정, 이웃 간의 배려, 하나님의 우리를 향한 사랑, 인간의 하나님을 향한 믿음, 그리고 동화에는 반려견과의 애정이 담긴 교감의 내용도 실었다.

아홉 편의 이야기들 중에서 세 편에 결혼과 출산에 대한 이야기가 수록되어 있을 정도로 우리 세대가 안고 있는 결혼과 출산 문제들이 개선됐으면 하는 작가의 젊은 세대를 향한 바램이 들어있다.
작가는 “따스한” 소설을 쓰고 싶다고 했다. 상처와 상실로 가득한 생은 또 어떻게 치유되고 사랑으로 채워지는지 말하고 싶었던 걸까. 비가 오고 바람이 불고 누군가 스쳐 가는 것은 새로운 일이 아니다. 그러나 잠시 발을 멈추고 어떤 사랑으로 다가가는 ‘빛길’을 발견하는 순간은 영원히 새로울 것이다.

The characters in this short story collection look at each other with warm eyes, show consideration, and share precious things. The first story, , is a prime example. The empathetic gaze and love of Park Sang-jun, who observes the temporary employee Kim Yun-ji from nearby, warm all our hearts.

Among the nine stories, three include themes of marriage and childbirth, reflecting the author's desire for improvement in the marriage and childbirth issues faced by the younger generation today.

The author expressed a wish to write "warm" stories. Perhaps they wanted to convey how a life full of wounds and loss can still be healed and filled with love. Rain falling, winds blowing, and people passing by are not new occurrences. However, the moment one pauses and discovers a 'path of light' that leads to a certain kind of love will forever be new.
