Winnie's Dinosaur Day One day, when Winnie and Wilbur are flying over the museum, they see a crowd of people gathered around a huge dinosaur skeleton in the courtyard. It's a Triceratops and there's a competition to draw or make a model of what the dinosaur would have looked like when it was alive. Winnie is really keen to take part! But she just isn't sure what the skeleton might have looked like so she decides the only way to find out is to magic herself and her (not-so-willing) cat Wilbur back into the time of the dinosaurs! Once they arrive in the prehistoric swamp, Winnie and Wilbur hide behind a tree and it's not long before they spot a Triceratops munching the greenery. Pencils and sketchbook in hand, Winnie just can't capture the dinosaur on paper so instead she jumps onto his back and Winnie, Wilbur, and a rather surprised Triceratops crash into the museum courtyard just as the prize is about to be presented by Professor Perkins. The Triceratops is even more surprised when he is given the prize! Then Winnie and Wilbur take him home and it's time for one last magic-wand moment so that Winnie's prehistoric friend can really fit in to his new surroundings. Winnie's Amazing Pumpkin Winnie and Wilbur love their vegetables. They are regulars at the weekly farmers' market to stock up on their greens, but bringing them back home on a broomstick proves to be rather hazardous. So Winnie decides to grow her own and digs a vegetable patch in her garden. Not having the patience of a true gardener, she uses a little magic to speed up the growing process . . . only to end up with a garden overrun by enormous vegetables. She uses her giant pumpkin to make pumpkin pies, pumpkin scones, creamy pumpkin soup for Wilbur, and dish after dish of roast pumpkin. She invites all her neighbours to help themselves to pumpkin, too. Eventually the yummy orange flesh is all gone but the shell remains. What can Winnie do with it? She waves her wand, shouts 'Abracadabra!', and something amazing happens . . . Winnie's Midnight Dragon It's just after midnight. Winnie has gone to bed and is snoring peacefully when Wilbur is woken by a strange noise. He goes downstairs to investigate and, to his horror, discovers a baby dragon squeezing through his cat-flap! Wilbur is not impressed by the scaly visitor, especially when it starts chasing him around Winnie's house. But the baby dragon just wants to play and, in his exuberance, manages to topple a grandfather clock and knock over a suit of armour. All the clattering wakes Winnie and she's not happy about a baby dragon in her house, either. After all, there are puffs of smoke coming out of his nose and he might start a fire. So Winnie uses a little magic to turn the smoke into...a cloud of butterlies. This makes Wilbur feel better, he loves chasing butterflies! So now Winnie has a baby dragon and a cat who just want to play whereas she just wants to sleep! Winnie decides she's had enough of babysitting a dragon and goes onto the roof to look for his mother. But how will she catch the attention of a mother dragon flying past? By magicking a full moon over her house! So with mother and baby dragon reunited, Winnie and Wilbur can finally settle down for an overdue good night's sleep. Winnie the Witch Winnie the Witch lives in a black house. She has black chairs and black stairs, black floors and black doors. The trouble is that Winnie's cat, Wilbur, is also black. After sitting on him and tripping over him, Winnie decides to turn Wilbur into a green cat. But then he goes out into the long grass! Winnie is going to need a little magic to make sure she can always see Wilbur . . . A beautifully-crafted story with a colourful final twist. Winnie's Magic Wand Winnie the Witch is getting ready for the Witches' Magic Show. She can't wait to show off her favourite spells with her magic wand. But when Winnie inadvertently puts her wand in the washing machine with her party dress it comes out crumpled, soggy, and certainly not in working order! How is Winnie going to wow her friends at the show? Perhaps Wilbur has just the thing to bring a little magic into her act? Winnie's New Computer Winnie the Witch is very pleased with her new computer. She decides to throw away her book of spells and her wand - from now on all her magic will be at the click of a mouse! When Wilbur tries to pounce on the mouse, things start to go wrong. Winnie wakes up to discover she has no cat . . . and no computer. She could really use a little magic but just where is it going to come from? This is a hilarious Winnie story for the digital age! Winnie's Midnight Dragon It's just after midnight. Sadly, when the sky starts filling up with all kinds of flying machines, Winnie and Wilbur have a few mid-air crashes and a few more near misses. Winnie tries a little magic to turn her broomstick into a bicycle, a skateboard, even a horse. But the accidents still happen. Perhaps Winnie needs to look no further than the end of her nose for an answer to her problems . . . Winnie's Flying Carpet Winnie's sisters have given her a flying carpet but Winnie is struggling to find something nice to say about it in her thank-you letter as the carpet has been more than a little wayward. Winnie decides to give the carpet one last chance but then disaster strikes. The carpet swoops off with poor Wilbur as its unwilling passenger. Winnie tries to catch it but the carpet is too fast for her and it heads straight for a funfair where it subjects Wilbur to a string of crazy rides. Winnie has to resort to magic to stop the carpet in its tracks and rescue her beloved moggy. Then she takes Wilbur home and, ever the resourceful witch, she has an idea for a wonderful way to enjoy the carpet in the safety of her own garden. Winnie in Space Winnie is fascinated by space and she decides the time is right for a little space exploration. Wilbur is not so sure. Winnie's magical rocket is quite tricky to steer through the universe and poor Wilbur can't even bear to look. He feels a little less anxious when they land on a faraway planet and Winnie unpacks their special space picnic. The inhabitants of the planet are small, with long ears and twitchy noses. They're curious and friendly but these space rabbits have rather strange eating habits - they munch on metal! And, for the space rabbits, Winnie's rocket is particularly tasty. So when it is nibbled clean away, Winnie has to use some quick thinking and some magic to keep the rabbits happy and to rustle up an alternative means of getting home. Winnie's Pirate Adventure Winnie the Witch would like to announce that in this book she is actually Winnie the pirate and Wilbur is not her cat, he's her parrot. When they arrive at Cousin Cuthbert's party in their fancy dress, Winnie and Wilbur discover a whole crew of children, ready for action. With a map and a fine pirate ship (thanks to a little magic from Winnie) they set off to find their treasure island. But a band of fierce pirates is already there. What will Winnie and her fancy-dress pirates do? Will they manage to get the treasure? Join them in an adventure to remember on the high seas, it's pure swashbuckling magic! |
