At first the light was just a small spark on the stone floor.Then it got longer untill it became a yellow line.and then,without any warning or sound,a hand appeared.It was a white,almost womanly hand,which started touching the floor area lit* by the little area of light.For a minute or two the hand its fingers were sticking out of the floor.Then it went back underground as quickly as it appeared,and everything was dark again except for the single spark of light coming out of the gap between the stones on the floor.

처음에 그 불빛은 돌로 된 바닥 위를 비치는 작은 불꽃에 불과 했다. 그러다가 불빛이 더 길어지며 노란 줄이 되더니,다음에는 아무런 예고나 소리도 없이 손이 하나 나타났다.거의 여자 손처럼 하얀 그 손은 조그마한 불빛이 비치는 바닥 주위를 더듬기 시작했다. 일 이분 동안 그 손과 손가락은 마룻바닥 밖으로 나와 있었다.그리고 나서 그 손은 나타났을 때처럼 재빠르게 지하로 다시 들어가 버렸고,바닥 돌 사이의 틈으로 새어나오는 불빛 한 점을 제외하고는 모든 것이 다시 캄캄해졌다.
