테리 오어는 진화생태학자로서, 소형 포유류가 시간과 에너지 및 짝짓기 결정 면에서 번식에 자원을 어떻게 할당하는가에 관심이 많다. 번식과 영양이 얽힌 만큼 식이와 미소생물상도 함께 탐구한다. 헤이슨과 협업할 당시에는 스미스칼리지와 컨소시엄 관계인 매사추세츠대학 애머스트캠퍼스의 박사후연구원이었으나, 현재는 뉴멕시코주립대학 생물학과 조교수로 재직 중이다.
