Alan MacDonald dreamed of becoming a professional footballer when he was a child, but then he won a pen in a writing competition and his fate was sealed. Alan has since written over sixty children's books, including the Troll Trouble series and the History of Warts series. He also writes for TV, including the hugely popular Horrid Henry on CITV.

David Roberts worked as a fashion illustrator before becoming a children's books illustrator. He has worked with a variety of authors, including Philip Ardagh, Georgia Byng and Julia Donaldson. Little Red was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal in 2006, and Mouse Noses on Toast won Gold at the Nestle(c) Children's Book Prize 2006. Alan MacDonald was born in Watford.
