Gina Kolata

미국 매릴랜드 주 볼티모어에서 태어났다. 메릴랜드 대학교에서 미생물학으로 학사 학위를 받았고, 같은 대학원에서 응용수학으로 석사 학위를 받았다. 매사추세츠 공과 대학교에서 응용 수학 석사 학위를 받은 후 분자 생물학 박사 과정을 수료했다. 1971년 「사이언스」에서 과학 기자 활동을 시작, 1987년부터 「뉴욕 타임스」 과학 전문 기자로 활동 중이다. 10여 년 동안 과학 기자로 활동하면서 1,000편이 넘는 과학 기사를 써 왔고, 베스트셀러 과학 논픽션을 여러 편 썼다. 저서로는 『독감』, 『복제양 돌리』, 『헬스의 거짓말』『사상 최고의 다이어트』 등이 있다.
